• The Traditional Hogmanay Ceremony and Yearly Celebration

One of the proudest and longest traditions in Scottish holidays is the yearly hogmanay. This is a holiday that is particularly special to the Scots, but has received little attention throughout the rest of the world. In Scotland, this special celebration is had to welcome in the new year. Similar to the more familiar celebrations around the world, this is a particularly merry time where friends and family get together and to reminisce about the past year, share more than a few drinks and just have a good time. The holiday itself is a part of most Hogmanay Breaks that young people take during college, and stems from a celebration that favors the winter solstice, signaling that the weather can only get warmer from here on out. The largest celebrations are held in party halls and town squares, where communities can still get together and have a good time, as were the old traditions.
